Cholpon Ata

Cholpon Ata is a beautiful town located on the north side of Lake Issyk-Kul. The coastline is filled with resorts and is usually most popular in the summer months when temperatures are warmer. The pictures below are from a cultural center named after Chingiz Aitmatov.

It is common to see a handful of yurts located near the beach. Fun way to spend a day at the lake.

Headed Home

Cholpon Ata is a three hour drive from Bishkek. The local highway runs along the mountains that make up the border of Kazakhstan as you get close to the city.
